10 Ways To De-Stress

Life gets hard and there is no way to deny it. I highly doubt one person reading this post can say that they have never had at least one moment where they've felt stressed, stuck and/or frustrated. Just in case you are feeling overwhelmed in life, here are 10 ways to help relax your mind:

001. Paint Your Face: If you're here, I'm assuming you enjoy makeup as much as I do. So, PAINT IT ON. Makeup is a artistic outlet and is also quite therapeutic. Can't get that wing liner to work? Take the time to practice. Not only will it take your mind off of whatever may be bothering or worrying you, you'll also be 1 step closer to being a master at wing liner.

002. Bath-time: Not many of us have enough time to run a warm bath and relax, but if you're stressed out, you've just found your excuse to shut the door and climb right in to a nice hot bubble bath. Need I say more?

003. Unplugging: This is one of my personal favorites; remove your self from your computer, turn off your phone and simply unplug from the virtual world. You won't believe how much such a simple action changes your mood.

004. Reading: If you've ever read a good book, you know how much of a stress reliever this is. It forces your mind to focus on the words, and if the book is written well, you'll focus less on outside factors and more on creating imagery in your mind. Get lost in a different world and reading does just that.

005. Music: No matter what you're feeling, there is a song out there that describes it. Grab some headphones, plop down on your bed and close your eyes. If you don't want to listen to words, meditation channels on Youtube help, and can even help you fall asleep, which leads me to my next point.

006. Pure Silence & a Little Shut Eye: Sleep, get some! There have been plenty of times that I have been upset, and a tad bit cranky and freaking out about something. If you turn off the lights, and try to get some shut eye, chances are you'll wake up feeling a bit better.

007. A Little Wine: Wine... a girl's best friend therefore, no explanation needed. Only if your over 21 of course. :)

008. Exercise: Working out helps releases chemicals called endorphins, which help release the a feeling of happiness in the body. If you don't have a gym membership, no worries. Get out doors and go for a walk. The fresh air helps too.

009. Write: Writing down your feelings gives you a chance to vent and rationalize your thoughts. Personally, when I get overwhelmed I like to write down the first thing that comes to mind and eventually I'll get to the root of the problem which helps me find a solution. If you decide that you don't want to deal with whatever you're feeling, that's fine too. Write a story, poem, or start a blog. Write about anything that makes you happy.

010. TV Binging: Grab your computer, on demand, your favorite movie...anything. Lose yourself in a series. It's a great way to let time (hours) past and get your mind off of a few things.

Stress and frustration happens to all of us and when it does, we just have to stop and slow down and take a time out; whether it's 5 minutes, 5 hours of 5 days, take some time for yourself. Who ever knew that we'd hate time outs as children but come to love them as adults... isn't life just funny.

  1. Reading is my favorite way to de-stress. I love the way it challenges my mind and that with each book, I get to create a new mental scenery.
